Introduction to Breeding

Welcome to the Breeding Guide for Pixelmon!

In Pixelmon Breeding is a process where two pokemon within the same egg group reproduce a new pokemon.

Why? To get a better one! You can get better pokemon by breeding using a ranch block and right environment, by getting more 31 IV's and right nature on the pokemon without the need to spend tokens or modifications for it!

These pokemon are also called battle perfect if they have 31 IV's in places it needs and right nature and ability! Getting this is what this guide will teach you. Lets jump into it!

Everything you need to know about Ranch blocks and breeding environment!

Ranch blocks hold 2 pokemons of opposite gender within the same egg group to reproduce the egg. Breeding process cannot be started without a Ranch block. Crafting Ranch block is quite easy to do!
Following Recipe contains: Flower pot, PC and a regular piston. Placement is shown in the image bellow

Once your Ranch Block is crafted, create a 9x9 area and put the Ranch Block in center of it.
unknown (4).png

Once you are very close to the placed Ranch blocks you will see the white plates.
White plates indicate your size of the breeding environment.

You are also able to expand ranch size blocks, meaning you can make it bigger then 9x9.
You will need to obtain Ranch Upgrade to do so.

Once you have obtained it you can right click on the ranch block with it and extend the size in positive or negative x or z direction by one row which is 9 blocks in the direction you choose.

Getting 12 ranch blocks will increase breeding range on its maximum which is 15x15.

Once you destroy Ranch Block from its place any Ranch Upgrades will be lost.

Now that you have gotten your ranch block, your pokemon and right breeding environment we can talk about how to lower breeding time, pass down IV's and Items to give to Pokemon you are wanting to breed!

Breeding Process

If you have chosen two pokemon with different gender that are within the same egg group, they will start to love each other. For them to proceed with love stage they have to be suitable with their breeding environment which is listed above for each typing. If you are still unsure, you can do /pwiki pokemon and hover over to see what breeding blocks the pokemon you want, needs.

Breeding dual-type pokemon can only need placing of one block typing since the pokemon who are dual-types cut the value of the block in half. You may still proceed to make it with multiple blocks, however this is not required.

Once the issued pokemon are satisfied with the environment they are in, they are going to breed. However breeding pokemons has its stages.

1. No Hearts >> Pokemon have just started to breed and will show hearts on its 1st stage

2. Gray Hearts >> Pokemon have affection for each other and are guaranted to give egg once breeding process has completed.

3. Purple Hearts >> This is the 3rd stage of Pokemon Breeding, and it is almost half way there!

4. Blue Heart >> This is the middle, little more time and patience and your egg will be completed!

5. Yellow Heart >> It's almost there, give it some time and your egg will be ready in no time!

6. Red Heart >> Your egg will be ready any time soon and watch for the chat message when you can take it out!

We have mentioned before how you can speed up the breeding process by correct breeding environment so why not know what Stages you can achieve and how you can know if you have maximum breeding environment for the fastest breeding speed.

If love state is "Pokémon 1 has no one to fall in love with!" then there wont be time per egg. You need to add pokemon of opposite gender within the same egg group for pokemon to breed.

If love state is "Pokémon 1 doesn't get along well with anyone here!" then again there will be no egg. There are no suitable pokemon in the ranch block that can breed together.

If love state is Pokémon 1 has a crush on Pokémon 2, but doesn't feel comfortable in this environment!" then pokemon who are in love loses affection it has overtime due to unsuitable environment.

If love state is "Pokemon 1 likes Pokémon 2 a tiny bit more every day!" then time per egg will be 2 hours, 30 minutes along with 30 minutes of duration per breeding level.

If love state is "Pokémon 1 is more attracted to Pokémon 2 every day!" then time per egg will be 1 hour, 15 minutes along with 15 minutes of duration per breeding level.

If love state is "Pokémon 1's love for Pokémon 2 grows rapidly every day!" then time per egg will be 50 minutes along with 10 minutes of duration per breeding level.

If love state is "Pokémon 1 falls madly in love with Pokémon 2 every single day!" then time per egg will be 37½ minutes along with 7½ minutes per breeding level.

If love state is "Pokémon 1 loves Pokémon 2 as much as possible!" then your egg is ready to be collected. Right click the ranch block and click claim!

You can check their affection by right clicking them once they are on the ranch environment.

To speed up breeding process you can also use Isi's Silver or Golden Hourglassess.
Isi's Silver hourglass : Advances Pokemon used on breeding stage by 1. It will not work if the environment is not suitable.
Isi's Golden hourglass: Advances both Pokemons breeding stage by 1. It will not work if the environment is not suitable.

Breeding Process continues while you are offline, once you come back on let them spawn back in without right clicking ranch block. This may take a minute!

Progress by 1 stage will be reset by right clicking the ranch block too early. Destroying Ranch block will return both of your pokemons to your party or your PC. All progress is lost by destroying the Ranch Block.

Breeding Items and IV inheritance

Breeding items is one of the most important things to know about breeding. There are items that transfer specific IV's, natures and item that can transfer 5 IV's from the both parents instead of 3 IV's. Wanna learn more about it? Keep reading!
Lets talk about items that pass down specific IV's to an egg first and then we will move towards item such as everstone and destiny knot.

>>Power Weight Item transfers the IV HP of the parent holding the item.

>>Power Bracer Item transfers the IV Attack of the parent holding the item.

>>Power Belt Item transfers the IV Defense of the parent holding the item.

>>Power Lens Item transfers the IV Special Attack of the parent holding the item.

>>Power Band Item transfers the IV Special Defense of the parent holding the item.

>>Power Anklet Item transfers the IV Speed of the parent holding the item.

Destiny Knot is easily the most used item in breeding! It's incredible since it passes down 5 random IV's from both parents instead of normal 3IV's! It can definetly make the process faster for getting battle perfect pokemon you want!

Everstone is another used item if you get lucky and get pokemon in wilderness with right nature that you can pass to pokemon you want to breed.

Egg groups, abilities and egg moves
Egg groups are essential part of breeding. If two pokemon you would like to breed dont belong in the same Egg Group they cannot breed. Type of the pokemon and egg group are two different things.

If pokemon you would like to breed belong in the same egg group, congratulations, you can breed those two if they are different gender!

*undiscovered egg group cannot be breed with any other pokemon or pokemon that belong in this egg group, it cannot be bypassed by using ditto either.

Egg group list:

*Ditto
*Amorphous
*Bug
*Dragon
*Fairy
*Field
*Flying
*Grass
*Human-Like
*Mineral
*Monster
*Undiscovered
*Water 1
*Water 2
*Water 3

Ditto Group can be breed with any Pokemon. Its mainly used to breed genderless pokemon. This is the only way you can get a battle perfect genderless pokemon by breeding. You can always use tokens or mods for genderless pokemon as well.

You can also breed Ditto with a Ditto for them to give an egg containing a random pokemon! You cannot breed Legendary with a Ditto or get a egg containing a Legendary!

If a male pokemon breeds with a Ditto there is 60% its ability will be passed onto the egg. Ditto's ability does not change this chance.

If a male pokemon breeds with a female pokemon there is 60% chance ability from the mother will pass onto the egg.

Abilities are very important aspect as many pokemon rely on its hidden ability, and this can be transfered by female mother with the hidden ability while using male pokemon to breed it with.

If one of the parents knows a move the egg could learn, it will. This is how egg moves get transferred.
>> If both or just the male or female pokemon have certain moves that belong to "egg moves" the egg will have those moves. Many of the "egg moves" cannot be learned unless you are using move mod that can be found in our
shop!

>> If both or just female or male parent know moves that can only be taught at certain high level then their egg will have those moves as well.

Its also worth of the mention that there are priorities that come to egg learning the moves. Egg moves have +1 priority over the ones that can be taught at certain level or taught through TM's or HM's.

Eggs you get once process is complete have different ratios of their gender. Each pokemon has different ratio and you can check it with /pwiki <pokemon> and hovering over the right section.

Hatching Eggs
Now I know, hatching eggs. Pretty annoying without /hatch command right? There have been solutions which can make hatching eggs quicker and less time consuming. To check how many steps you have before egg hatches do /eggsteps <slot>

Egg Hatching Machines with Movement plates. This Movement Plates are obtainable trough crafting or purchasing from players. Following Recipe for the movement plates is :

unknown (6).png

Once you have obtained moving plates, you can do patterns such as squares, back and forth and endless combinations. This is not AFK Pool and this will still kick you for being AFK while being on them. This is only to make your eggs hatch faster and with less work for it.

unknown (7).png

Packed Ice makes sure the Ice doesnt melt and ruin the egg hatcher!

You also only need Moving Plates each couple blocks, so if you dont have material to make 20 or more of them you can easily do something with less then 8 of them.

Final advice and tips on breeding!

I suggest using only value of 3x or 2x for breeding blocks!

Investing into Ranch Upgrades and having area that you will never break the Ranch Block in will help you more times then you will count.

Save up Diamond, Iron, Gold and Emerald blocks or ores and ingots that you can later craft or smelt into ingots and craft into blocks. They are massive help when it comes to breeding some of the types. Dont just throw away Diamonds you get in Vote crates! Keep them! You will need them once for breeding.

Do not use Gender Modifiers in the start and on low IV Pokemons. Rather wait 3-4 times til you get a male or female one you need.
They can help you a lot once you have high IV's Pokemons and when you arent getting lucky.

Change up the items on pokemons for breeding if needed.

Use more then 1 Ranch Block in Breeding area, and breed more then 2 pokemons at same time for faster results and if you wanna be the first one on the market with the Pokemon others don't have. Breeding is very competitive and you are one who can control the pokemon on the market if done correctly.

Do not throw away Breeding Items you get from killing bosses or Poke Loot. They come in handy and you won't need to spend money in /shop for it.

Do not waste money on Ability Capsules if you want Hidden ability on the Pokemon. They only apply and switch from regular abilities. Save your money and buy a BP {HA if needed} breedable pokemon you can use to breed another pokemon within the same Egg Group.
Example Male Charizard that is Fire/Flying can be breed with Female Salamance that is Dragon/Flying. Egg will result to be Salamance hence the Female passes its species down.

When in doubt, ask for advice! Breeding is a long, complicated process! Having patience and not getting too frustrated with it is what will keep you going with it. You can focus on other things in game while breeding to take your mind off those "bad eggs". Try building, collecting dex, seeing what you want to do next. Give yourself another goal besides breeding! It helps you cool off and keeps you going!

Potential issues are that you cannot see the hearts if your particles are turned off and you will end up right clicking ranch block and resetting the timer. Make sure they are on.

Hope this helped to those who wanted to learn more about Breeding! Special thanks to Bats for helping out with finalizing this! Be free to issue any questions in my private messages or trough discord and in game!

Once you have obtained moving plates, you can do patterns such as squares, back and forth and endless combinations. This is not AFK Pool and this will still kick you for being AFK while being on them. This is only to make your eggs hatch faster and with less work for it.

Hope this helped to those who wanted to learn more about Breeding! Special thanks to Bats for helping out with finalizing this! Be free to issue any questions in my private messages or trough discord and in game!
