Privacy Policy

This page explains what information Blaze Gaming collects when you use our website, our store, our forms and our Minecraft servers, who handles it for us, and how to get it deleted. If anything's unclear, email us at [email protected].

The short version: we only collect what we need to run the servers, the store and the newsletter. We never sell your information, and our website and store at mc-blaze.com don't use advertising or tracking cookies.

Who we are

Blaze Gaming runs the Pixelmon and Cobblemon Minecraft servers at play.mc-blaze.com, this website and the store at mc-blaze.com/store. When this page says "we", it means the Blaze Gaming team.

What we collect

When you visit the website

Like every website, ours receives your IP address and basic details about your browser and device each time you visit. Cloudflare, which delivers our site, uses them to send you pages quickly and to block attacks and spam. Cloudflare Web Analytics counts visits for us without cookies, so we see totals, not individual visitors. Our web server may also keep short technical logs.

If you subscribe to our newsletter

Our website runs on Ghost. When you subscribe, Ghost stores:

• your email address, and your name if you give it;
• when you signed up, and which page and website led you to sign up;
• the rough location (country and region) that your IP address points to;
• whether each newsletter reached you, whether you opened it and which links you clicked.

Mailgun sends our newsletters, and the emails that confirm your subscription or sign you in. To count opens, each newsletter includes a tiny image that your email app loads from Mailgun, at email.mg.mc-blaze.com. Every newsletter has an unsubscribe link.

If you use the store

Everything in our store is sold by Tebex, our reseller and merchant of record.

• Your Minecraft username. The store asks for it so your items reach the right player. It's sent to Tebex to create your basket, and our store server asks Tebex which ranks you already own, so it can show your upgrade prices.
• Checking a friend's rank. Usernames you type into the store, yours or a friend's, go to our store server and to Tebex to look up store ranks and prices. A player's store rank is shown to anyone who types their name.
• Gifts and gift cards. A gift includes your friend's Minecraft username. A gift card includes the email address it will be sent to.
• Checkout. You pay on Tebex's checkout, which asks for your email address, payment details and country. Tebex handles payment, billing and refunds under its own privacy policy. We never see your card details.
• Your order. Tebex shares your order with us, including your username, email address, what you bought and when, so we can deliver it and help if something goes wrong.
• Supporters. After you buy, your Minecraft username, skin head and what you bought may appear under "Recent supporters" in the store. The month's biggest supporter is shown by username and skin head as the monthly top donator. We never show amounts or email addresses.

Tebex's terms say that only people aged 16 or older can buy from the store.

If you send us a form

Ban appeals and staff applications use forms made with Tally. Tally stores your answers, including your Minecraft and Discord usernames and anything else the form asks, and our staff team reads them. If you open a staff application from a role card on our Staff page, Tally is also sent the name of the role card you opened (for example "pixelmon-helper").

If you contact us

Support tickets happen in our Discord server, so Discord's privacy policy applies, and our staff can read what you write in a ticket. If you email us, we keep your email so we can reply and follow up.

When you play on our servers

Like every Minecraft server, ours record your Minecraft username and account ID, your IP address, when you join and leave, what you type in chat and commands, and what you do in the world. Staff use this to run the servers, look into reports, undo griefing and enforce the rules. Voice chat isn't recorded.

Tournament results

If you make the podium in one of our monthly tournaments, we show your Minecraft username and skin head in our Hall of Fame and in that tournament's posts. We never show Discord names or IDs. To be listed as a private player, tell staff when you sign up or open a ticket at any time. The skin heads load the same way as the others on our site: see Player heads, just below.

Player heads

The skin heads on the store, the staff page and the Hall of Fame come from mc-heads.net, or from cravatar.eu when mc-heads.net doesn't answer. To show a head, your browser asks them for it by username, so they see your IP address and which heads your page shows.

Who handles it for us

We use these services to run Blaze Gaming. Each one only gets what it needs for its job, and each has its own privacy policy.

• Our web host runs the server that our website and newsletter list live on.
• Ghost is the software our website runs on. We run it ourselves, so the company that makes Ghost doesn't receive your personal data.
• Mailgun, in the United States, sends our newsletters and sign-in emails.
• GeoJS (get.geojs.io) receives a new subscriber's IP address from Ghost, and tells it the rough location that address points to.
• Google Workspace hosts our email inbox, [email protected].
• Cloudflare delivers every page, protects the site from attacks, counts visits with Web Analytics and runs our store server.
• Tebex runs the store's baskets and checkout, takes payments and delivers what you buy to the game.
• Tally hosts our ban appeal and staff application forms.
• Discord hosts our community and support tickets. Our store server also asks Discord how many members we have, which sends nothing about you.
• mc-heads.net and cravatar.eu provide player skin heads.
• cdnjs and jsDelivr deliver some of the code our pages use: the copy buttons, the Vote and Staff page lists, and the sign-up and search pop-ups. Your browser downloads these files from them, so they see your IP address.
• YouTube, Gyazo and Imgur host a video and some images in a few older news posts. Videos we upload to a news post also load a blank placeholder image from spacergif.org, which our website software uses to size the video player. Your browser loads these from those services when you open those posts.
• Gravatar may show your profile picture in your newsletter account pop-up, if you're signed in. Your browser asks Gravatar for it using a scrambled (hashed) form of your email address.

Some of these services are in the United States or other countries outside yours, so your information may be handled there.

Our pages also link to other websites, such as Discord, our wiki (wiki.mc-blaze.com, run on GitBook), CurseForge, Modrinth, Minecraft server lists and social networks. Nothing is sent to them until you click a link. After that, their own privacy policies apply.

Cookies and browser storage

We don't use advertising or tracking cookies on mc-blaze.com. Here's everything our site keeps in your browser, and why. You can clear it at any time in your browser's settings. The site still works afterwards, but the store will forget your username and basket.

From our site

• blaze.counts.v1 (local storage): the latest player and Discord counts, and when they were fetched, so the numbers don't flash on every page.
• blaze.store.v1 (local storage): your store basket. It holds your Minecraft username, your basket's ID, what's in it and the choices you made (including a friend's username for a gift, or the email address for a gift card), which ranks you already own, and your last order for 24 hours so the thank-you page can show it. The basket empties when you check out. Your username stays, so you don't have to type it again. The vote page also reads that username, to offer a Copy button, and never changes it.
• blaze.store.fx.v1 (local storage): the currency you picked for price estimates.
• blaze.store.sale.v1 (local storage): a copy of the current sale banner, refreshed every 5 minutes.
• blaze.store.mock.v1 (local storage): only used when our store runs in test mode, for a pretend basket. You won't normally have it.
• blaze.firststeps.v1 (local storage): the steps you tick on Your First Hour, the season they belong to, and the server tab you last chose there. It stays in this browser and is never sent to us. "Start over" clears that server's ticks, and a new season starts them fresh.
• blaze.vote.v1 (local storage): when you last opened each vote site on our vote page, so it can remind you when a site is ready again. It stays in this browser and is never sent to us. "Clear reminders" on the vote page deletes it.
• bs_sale_hide (cookie): set when you close a sale banner, so it stays closed. It lasts 14 days.
• blaze_store_preview (cookie): only set by a private link our team uses to try the store before changes go live. It lasts 30 days.

Invite links (mc-blaze.com/join/) carry a Minecraft username after the #. Browsers don't send that part of a link to any server. The page reads it, takes it out of the address bar before any analytics runs, keeps it only in that tab's history so a reload still shows it, and never saves or sends it.

From Ghost, our website software

• ghost-members-ssr and ghost-members-ssr.sig (cookies): keep you signed in after you confirm your newsletter subscription or sign in. They last about six months, or until you sign out.
• ghost-history (session storage): the last few pages you visited in this tab over the past day, and the site that sent you here. If you subscribe, Ghost saves it with your subscription so we know what led you to sign up. It's deleted when you close the tab.
• ghost-recommendations-clicked (local storage): only set if you click a website recommended in our sign-up pop-up.
• ghost-admin-api-session (cookie): only for our staff, when they sign in to manage the site.

From other services

• Cloudflare may set a security cookie, such as __cf_bm or cf_clearance, if it needs to check that you're a person and not a bot.
• Cloudflare Web Analytics uses no cookies or browser storage.
• Tebex's checkout, Tally's forms and YouTube videos may set their own cookies and browser storage. Their privacy policies explain them.

How long we keep it

• Newsletter: until you unsubscribe. Ghost then keeps your address marked as unsubscribed, so we don't email you by mistake. Ask us, and we'll delete it completely.
• Store orders: Tebex keeps order records for as long as the law and its own policy require, and we can see them in our Tebex account.
• Appeals and staff applications: we keep them until you ask us to delete them.
• Game logs and punishments: server logs are kept for 30 days. Punishment records are kept for as long as the punishment lasts, so it can't be dodged.
• Emails and tickets: as long as we need them to help you.
• Your browser: the items listed above stay until they expire or you clear them.
• Cloudflare, Mailgun, Tebex, Tally, Discord and Google keep their own records under their own policies.

Your choices and rights

• Stop the newsletter with the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any newsletter.
• Get a copy of your data, fix it or delete it. Email [email protected] from the address you used, or tell us your Minecraft username. We'll reply within 30 days. We may ask you to show that the account is yours first.
• What we can't delete. Tebex keeps the order records it must keep by law. We keep what a punishment needs to keep working, such as the account and IP address it applies to, while it lasts. Messages you posted in Discord can be deleted by you, or through Discord.
• If you live in the UK, the EU or somewhere with similar laws, you can also object to how we use your information, and complain to your local data protection authority.

Why we use your information: to send the newsletter, because you asked us to (you can stop at any time); to handle your orders, forms and messages, because you asked us to; and to keep the site, store and servers running, safe and fair, which is a legitimate interest of ours.

Children and parents

Blaze Gaming is for players aged 13 and over, or younger with a parent's or guardian's permission. Our newsletter and our forms are only for people aged 13 and over, and we don't knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger. If we learn that we have, we delete it.

Tebex's terms say that only people aged 16 or older can buy from the store.

Parents and guardians: if you think your child gave us personal information, email [email protected] and we'll delete it.

Our backup store

If our store is ever unavailable, you may be sent to our backup store at blazednetworkmc.tebex.io. Tebex runs that site under its own privacy policy, and what we say above about cookies covers mc-blaze.com only. The backup store's pages load fonts from Google Fonts (fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com), icons from jsDelivr, code libraries from cdnjs, player heads from cravatar.eu, and our player and Discord counts straight from mcapi.us and discord.com. Tebex also adds Microsoft Clarity there (www.clarity.ms), which records how visitors use the page and sets its own cookies, such as _clck and _clsk.

• tally.so: the appeal and staff application forms. Its script loads on those two pages.
• mc-heads.net and cravatar.eu: player heads on the store, the staff page and the Hall of Fame.
• headless.tebex.io: your store basket.
• js.tebex.io and pay.tebex.io: Tebex's checkout.
• dunb17ur4ymx4.cloudfront.net: package pictures stored by Tebex.
• www.youtube.com, i.gyazo.com and i.imgur.com: a video and images in some older news posts.
• img.spacergif.org: blank placeholder images for videos in news posts.
• www.gravatar.com: your Gravatar picture, if you're signed in and open your account.
• email.mg.mc-blaze.com: Mailgun's open-count image, which your email app loads when you open a newsletter.
• static.ghost.org: the "More like this" and "Less like this" button pictures in our newsletters, which your email app loads.

Our servers contact

• headless.tebex.io, plugin.tebex.io and checkout.tebex.io: our store server reads the catalogue, the ranks a username owns, gift card balances, recent supporters and order summaries from Tebex.
• api.mailgun.net: Ghost sends our emails through Mailgun.
• get.geojs.io: Ghost looks up the rough location of a new subscriber's IP address.
• mcapi.us and api.mcstatus.io: the number of players online.
• discord.com: our Discord server's member counts.
• api.frankfurter.dev and www.ecb.europa.eu: exchange rates for price estimates.

None of these is sent anything about you, apart from the usernames and basket details the store needs from Tebex, a new subscriber's IP address, which Ghost sends to get.geojs.io to find their rough location, and the emails Mailgun delivers.
